Safety and operations

Trust comes first.

Safety is built into every journey from the very beginning, from pre-departure preparation to on-the-ground support. Our goal is simple: to help travellers explore China with confidence.

Every programme is delivered through close coordination between our New Zealand and China teams, so communication stays clear, standards stay consistent and practical support stays reliable, from the first briefing to the journey home.

A whole-journey safety framework

Prepared before departure, supported on the ground.

  1. 01

    Pre-departure preparation

Preparation begins before travellers leave home. Each group is supported with a programme information session, a pre-departure briefing, a practical journey handbook and detailed traveller information collection.

  2. 02

    Risk and contingency planning

Pre-trip risk assessment and contingency planning are built into every programme, covering transport, health, weather, operational changes and route-specific considerations.

  3. 03

    Supervision and group structure

For school groups, clear supervision ratios, buddy systems, headcounts, behaviour expectations and room checks are built in. For family, business and adult groups, support is adapted to the travellers, itinerary and journey style.

  4. 04

    Trusted suppliers

Accommodation, transport providers, restaurants, activity venues and local partners are carefully selected and reviewed. Dietary requirements, allergies and relevant medical information are considered during planning and shared with appropriate staff where required.

  5. 05

    Practical travel support

We prepare the details that make travelling in China easier, including communication setup, mobile payment preparation, high-speed rail coordination, local transport planning, daily meeting points and clear movement instructions.

  6. 06

    Emergency and communication pathway

Around-the-clock on-ground support runs throughout the journey, with a clear escalation pathway from programme leaders to management and emergency services when required. If something happens, our priorities stay simple: safety first, medical care where needed, calm communication and accurate documentation.

The team around every journey

Clear roles, clear responsibility.

Bilingual programme leader

Leads the journey on the ground, manages daily coordination, supports group movement and makes practical decisions when plans need to adjust.

Accompanying teachers or group leaders

Where applicable, teachers and group leaders support supervision, pastoral care, behaviour, wellbeing and learning reflection.

Local coordinator and guide

Supports local logistics, transport, venues, scheduling, route guidance and communication with local providers.

Remote support team

Provides additional coordination, emergency support and access to key records, contacts and escalation pathways when needed.

Traveller wellbeing

Safety is also comfort and confidence.

We monitor wellbeing throughout the journey, including fatigue, illness, dietary adjustment, homesickness, culture shock and emotional comfort. For student groups, daily routines, briefings, room checks and teacher support help students feel secure while still having space to explore, learn and enjoy. For family, business and adult groups, pacing and support are adapted to the travellers.

Communication

Calm, clear and agreed in advance.

Before departure, we agree how updates will be shared and who to contact if support is needed. For school programmes, this may include parent updates, selected photos, learning highlights and wellbeing notes. If an incident occurs, families, schools or organisations are contacted with confirmed facts only, avoiding speculation and unnecessary alarm.

School approval support

Documentation that helps you say yes.

We can provide additional programme information to support school approval processes, parent communication and pre-departure preparation. Available materials may include the following.

  • Programme overviews
  • Safety summaries
  • Parent information packs
  • Packing and preparation guidance
  • Student behaviour expectations
  • Medical and dietary information forms
  • Communication plans
  • Route-specific safety notes
